ARTIST BIO

Anastasia earned her MFA in Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011 and BFA in Jewelry Metal Arts at the California College of the Arts in 2005. She founded her business in 2017, after fourteen years dedicated to exploring handwoven sculptures.

Her background is in jewelry metal arts. First introduced to jewelry fabrication in high school, she trained professionally as a goldsmith at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, San Francisco. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She travels the globe teaching imaginative textile and jewelry workshops.

She occupies the ancestral and unceded territory of the Narragansett Nation in the Ocean State. She meditates with movement and rejuvenates in stillness, while contemplating tidal shifts.

HER RECENT PUBLIC PROJECTS INCLUDE THE U.S. EMBASSY (MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE), THE ROSEWOOD HOTEL (HONG KONG, CHINA), THE GRAND HYATT (ABU DHABI, UAE), AND THE RITZ CARLTON (CALIFORNIA, USA).

Art for Interiors by Anastasia Azure

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art invokes Spirit through mandalas and provides an opening for perception. Numinous designs and geometric structures are imbued with wonder and magic.

Each sculpture is patiently crafted to evoke emotion and offer radiance. Inspired by the grace of Nature, my sculptures are underwater, cosmic flowers that offer intraconnection, peace, and harmony.

My art sprouts from the visual poetry of life: subtle neutrals, glimmering metals, boisterous flowers, underwater creatures, glacial expanses, as well as nebulous gasses and birthing stars. My forms and colors are informed by the phenomena of translucency, optical effects, iridescence and transformative light.
